    Picture of Homework

This week, we started learning and practicing logging in on the Chromebooks. Students learned how to access the Clever program where we access our various testing portals and curriculum.

We also learned about picking good fit books. In our classroom library, we can read books during our free time. Our lessons this week include: choosing a good fit book, 3 ways to read a book and building our stamina.

For sciene, we got to review our five senses and conduct experiments testing how well our senses work. We played a "Guess that sound" game where students would make a hypothesis about the sound they were hearing.

    Coming Up Next Week:

    Monday (9/6)- No School

Tuesday (9/7)- Spirit Day- Wear Blue

    Wednesday (9/8)-

    Thursday (9/9)- Spirit Assembly

This week we focused on feelings and how to identify what we are feeling. We learned that our brains can be ready to learn (green), yellow (nervous, silly), red (out of control) and blue (tired, bored). If you would like to learn more, click here to watch a video about the zones of regulation. One tool we learned to help our red, yellow and blue brains get back to green is breathing. Check out this video about some of the breathing exercises you can try, click here to view.

This week we reviewed the phonics sounds of some of our alphabet, click here to do an exercise with letter sounds! Please contact me if you are interested in additional work and practice pages I can send home. Thanks!

    Technology Update

    • According to our technology department, we will not have our student Chromebooks available until the end of September, possibly the first week of October. We will not require distance learning until all students have taken the Chromebooks home along with their Learn At Home folders.
    • In lieu of virtual days, we will have students complete review packets of skills we have already learned in school. Please let me know if you have any questions about the packets. This Friday is our monthly virtual Friday, we have included an additional packet just for this day.

    Quick Reminders:

    • Water Bottles; please send students with water bottles

    • Communication folders are the blue folders that we use to send home flyers, student work, and important forms that come back to school. Please be sure the folder comes to school and is checked daily.

    Thanks!

    first week

    Good Morning!

We will not have virtual days until Chromebooks are sent home along with Home Learning Folders. We expect Chromebooks to go home towards the end of September and beginning of October. (Fingers crossed we get them sooner) During this time, we will be helping get students familiar with technology and the digital tools/ websites we will be using. Instead of virtual days with technology, we will put together review packets to be completed during virtual days when students are learning from home. The first packets will be sent home next week. For this week, we are sending home an All About Me poster that you and your child can work on. We will use these as covers for our Communication Blue Folders. Click here to view my example. Remember to check out our monthly newsletter, we have placed a yellow copy in the blue Communication Folders but you can also view on our Class Newsletter page, click here to jump there. Please let me know if you have any questions. Below you will find a Week at a Glance of upcoming events and a Parent To-Do List.

    Good Morning,

Click here to view the weekly checklist and menu of learning activities, feel free to download and print. In our Google Classroom Bonus Activities section, I've included some extra and optional activities such as nonfiction animal articles.

STEM Challenge of the Week! I would like you to build a tower that is as tall or taller than yourself. Use anything around the house, be sure to ask parents for permission first. For example, use pillows, legos, paper cups, or cans of food. Be sure to take a picture and email it to me. I would love to be able to share some of these with students on Fun Friday.

Good luck this week and please reach out to me with questions!

    Good Morning!

With the new "normal" we are experiencing, teachers are working hard this week attending virtual training about online learning and digital tools available to us. I hope to touch base with everyone this week and if you haven't already, please let me know your preference for communicating: phone call, email or using the Remind messenger.

For this week, I've put together some more optional activities for you to try out at home. Please let me know if you have any questions. Click here to access Week 2 of home learning.
