Purple Sage Elementary will be continuing with our Positive Behavior Support system. The last couple of years I have been doing some research on motivating students to put continued sustained effort and to show GRIT. One aspect that has come up in the research is that of gamification.
Gamification is not game-based learning which is used to practice certain skills. Gamification is the application of game mechanics in a non-game context to promote desired behavior and drive learning outcomes. Think points, badges, leaderboards and incentives. To meet this end, I will be using Classcraft, an online learning tool that helps students become more motivated to participate in class. More information can be found at http://www.Classcraft.com or in this flyer Classcraft Parent Information additionaly, you can view this video.
Students will earn points for appropriate behavior (similar to Class DOJO) and be in teams (similar to the House's the had last year).
Because the Classcraft site links to Google Classroom, a parent permission form will need to be signed and returned.
Follow the subpages for specifics on how Classcraft will work in Mr. Stacy's Homeroom and Math classes.
Parents - Guardians please sign the parent permission form and send with your child.
