Hello! I'm so excited that I get to be your teacher this year. The first thing students and parents often ask about is my last name. If you know Spanish, it might be a little easier. The two l's make a 'y' sound just like in the word tortilla, so it sounds like this: Vee uh stree go. I look forward to getting to know all the students and families in our classroom community. Here is a little more about me:
I love my job! The challenge and excitement of teaching is never boring. My aim is to help students discover the unique sense of accomplishment that can only come through the challenge of learning something new. I studied Psychology and Education at The College of Idaho (AKA Albertson). I stayed there to earn a Master’s in Teaching and learned from veteran teachers from all over the state of Idaho in interviews for my thesis project. I loved the community and relationships at such a small school and hope to replicate that with my classroom.
My past teaching experience includes teaching at the middle school here in Middleton, fifth grade at North Davis Preparatory Academy (Layton, Utah), second grade in Richland, Washington, and most recently fifth grade at Early Light Academy (South Jordan, Utah). I'm an Idaho native and have had the opportunity to move around quite a bit due to my husband's work with the military, as well as a couple of civilian career advancements. Moving so much has been a little crazy, but has helped me learn from many different schools and people.
Outside of my life as a teacher, I also have a wonderful family. I grew up in beautiful Boise, Idaho (go Broncos!) in a big family with two brothers and two sisters. My husband and I met in college and have been married eleven years. We have two energetic children who always keep us learning and laughing.
