Degrees and Certifications:

Mrs. Tanya Rush

Let yourself be silently drawn by the strange pull of what you really love.  It will not lead you astray.  Rumi -

I am in my 5th year of teaching in Middleton, previously I worked three years at an IB school in Boise.  I have the best of both worlds by being a middle school PE and Health teacher.  Health is the most important topic ever taught, health is everything and it's RAD!

Through my 8th years of teaching, I developed a program with BSU Kinesiology department with my previous professors to enhance cross-curricular student learning between the university and students.  I also created a community outreach program with newly arrived refugees, and developed students networking skills to help implement change in the community for the better.  Other projects I lead included creating three murals for the school parking lot with local artists, creating YouTube videos, organizing school wide events for Earth Day, developing an alternative transportation raffle through donations from local businesses, teaching the students the importance of supporting local businesses, and exposing students to community debates at the City Club of Boise. Other avenues established with and for the students were building a rapport with Idaho Power, with Curb It, with Boise International Market, and with the Idaho Green Challenge.   In addition, I developed a club mountain bike team for three years at my previous school, and created the school’s first high/middle school Ultimate Frisbee team at both schools and teach a Ultimate Frisbee class at BSU.

I am super excited to teach this group of 8th graders health, the class of 2024 gave me hope and love when I taught them in 6th grade so I'm thrilled to be a part of their educational journey once again.  I am also thrilled to be teaching 6th graders PE this year, it's been awhile and I'm pleased to pass on my passion of exercise.  I love teaching students to “think outside the box” and that being active as a lifestyle is purely a blast.

When I am not teaching, I love playing being outdoors mountain biking, hiking, playing tennis, or camping.  I also love traveling to different countries and embracing their cultures.  I love doing these adventures with my spouse and two dogs, Bear and Clancy.  I am a new mom to a beautiful little girl and it's the best.  I love my family more than anything.
