“Let us pick up our books and our pens,” I said. “They are our most powerful weapons. One child, one teacher, one book and one pen can change the world.” ― Malala Yousafzai
Welcome Vikes. I am excited to be returning as a Vice Principal at MMS. I primarily assist our 7th graders, the class of 2022, with their academic issues and needs. I have been blessed to have spent an amazing 17 years at Middleton Middle School. I began my career in 1999 as a 6th grade teacher out in Annex A.
In 2013, I was offered a Technology Integration Position at the Middle School. This was an extremely hard decision, as it required me to leave the classroom. I accepted the position and began working side by side with staff and students to enrich and support teaching and learning, while strengthening technology skills. This new educational lense prompted me to continue my education and pursue a position in adminstration. Again, luck struck, and I was able tcontinue serving MMS as an assistant principal.
I grew up in Montana, living in Dillon, Kalispell, Great Falls, and Billings. In 4th grade we moved to Boise Idaho. I remember my first snow day in Idaho...a phenomena that was unheard of in Montana. My family moved often, 16 houses in 18 years. We finally settled in Eagle, Idaho. after graduation I headed off to become a BRONCO. After pursuing a degree in Criminal Justice, I went back for my Bachelors in Elementary Education. I guess all those years of playing school and insisting I was the teacher was more influential than I imagined. I am a lifelong learner, always seeking new educational challenges.
I currently reside in Eagle with my husband and daughter. My husband (Jerry) is an extremely loving, supportive, and encouraging man who is always pushing me to do and be my best. We also have a very talented middle school daughter who dances her days and nights away. I am also mom to two bonus children, Anthony (currently serving in the US Navy) and Emily (banker and full-time college student), both currently residing in Maryland. Jerry and I are incredibly proud of our children and their tenacity to accomplish and overcome whatever life throws their way.
Outside of school you will find me traveling to locate water and sun, sitting lakeside, camping, or paddle boarding. I love to garden, be with friends and family, and read. Finally, I am a dance mom...the one who always carries the bag:)
This is going to be a great year! GO VIKES!
